DIGITAL OPPORTUNITY TRUST KENYA, YOUTH LEADERSHIP ADVISORY BOARD (YLAB), 2021/2022
Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Kenya is excited to announce it’s members of the 2021-2022 Youth Leadership Advisory Board (YLAB)!
The Youth Leadership Advisory Board (YLAB) – a diverse group of innovative young community leaders – will support DOT Kenya by providing strategic advice and solutions to matters affecting youth, as well as provide an opportunity for active youth participation in the designing, planning and implementation of the DOT’s programs.
The YLAB will play a special role during our program implementation by promoting and providing strategic direction. They will also devote their creativity, skills and time to advise, assist, support and advocate for DOT Youth Programs, at local, regional and national levels.
Meet are our 2021 – 2022 YLAB members:
Erick Odhiambo Langi
Erick holds a BSc in Microbiology and Biotechnology from the University of Nairobi. He also has skills in research that are self taught. He runs Plutus Consulting Limited, a market , social research and political consultancy firm operating in Kenya. He is very passionate about youth empowerment and currently a member of the “4gottenBottomMillions(4BM)” family which shares various jobs, educational and business opportunities through WhatsApp to about 30,000 youth and women on a daily basis. He also volunteers as a Fact Ambassador with Africa Check helping fight misinformation and fiction in Africa.
Beverly Nicole
Beverly is a Sociologist and Development expert. Currently the Program officer for Homabay at EDUCATE! She is a founding member of I4Her CBO through which she has partnered with various organizations and the county government to implement various Advocacy programs, Campaigns and Innovations within the Blue Economy. Her work has been recognized and awarded through SDG 3 Ambassador of the year Award 2021 and Community Service Award 2021 by WHD Organization. She is a YALI Alumnus and is currently shortlisted for Mandela Washington Fellowship 2022.
Wycliffe Lwangu
Wycliffe is a food science and nutrition graduate from The University of Eldoret, a social innovator, and a former Lecturer at Eldoret college of professional studies and DOTKenya Social innovators class of 2018. As a clinical nutritionist and community nutritionist volunteer, he engages with the communities in different projects. He also has collaborated with the community in an Agri- nutrition baseline survey for a small-scale dairy commercialization project by IFAD. He uses digital technology in his social enterprise to work with rural communities in creating opportunities for youth and women in the poultry value chain and digital marketing.
Eddah Wanjiru
Eddah, a Computer Science graduate from Kenyatta University. Currently an ICT technical trainer in Coast Institute of Technology. Her work has given her an opportunity to mold numerous young scholars into an exciting and fulfilling career path in ICT. She is a gender champion, actively campaigning for more young girls to take up Science courses and leadership roles in TVET Institutions through Women in Technical Education and Technology. She has had an exciting career journey having worked as a DOT community leader and volunteered with G-United, Kenya. Currently, she is undertaking her research for Masters in ICT Integration in Education and Instructional Design at JKUAT.
Rhoda Musungu
Rhoda holds a BSc in Food Science and Nutrition and a Masters in Public Health Nutrition. She is a fellow of the Africa Biblical Leadership Initiative. She is a researcher currently based in Maseno University where she coordinates a Training Program that seeks to improve HIV Health Outcomes. She has a keen interest in Adolescents welfare and works with various rural organizations as a consultant in Gender mainstreaming, leadership and Management; and Sign Language Interpretation. She is a mentor and is passionate about youths learning from each other.
N’zani Kassim Zani
N’zani holds a Bachelor Degree in Journalism from the United States International University –Africa in Nairobi. She is a Mandela Washington Fellow 2019, a YALI fellow and an Acumen Fellow 2020. She is a Gender and Human Rights Champion. N’zani is the Founder of The Hijabi Mentorship Program (THMP) – a registered CBO that champions for Development in Underserved Communities by addressing: Gender Based Violence (GBV), Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Peace and Conflict Resolution and promotes Economic empowerment in Kwale County with a specific focus on women
